Earlier this year, Kookaburra Educational Resources were engaged to provide Governor Phillip King Public School with a brand-new external sound system. The school is located in Edensor Park, 20 minutes west of Cabramatta.

The request

The school used their old portable sound system for assemblies and ceremonies as well as at Christmas time to play carols. However, the school wanted a more flexibile system that would allow them to have outdoor sound all year round.

Kookaburra Educational Resources Account Manager, Mark Reilly was determined to help ease the burden of using a portable system for the school’s staff.

“Before the new external sound system, the teachers would have to wheel out a portable system every time they wanted to use it,” said Mark.

“While the system is mainly used at Christmas time, we wanted to provide a solution which could be easily accessible and used all year round.”

The solution

We wanted to find the best external sound system for the students and staff at the public school and knew our dB Technologies sound system would be the perfect solution.

We worked with Primo Electrical Services to ensure the system was installed correctly and safely. 

Nof Lopreiato and his team from Primo Electrical Services found an ideal way to install the sound system without leaving any exposed wiring.

“We installed four 15-inch dB technologies speakers throughout the covered outdoor learning area, whilst taking care to conceal all cabling,” said Nof.

“All works were completed in a safe manner with barricades. An elevating work platform was required as these speakers are extremely heavy and required two people to lift.”

Not only is the external sound system bolted to the structural frame of the covered outdoor learning area, but all the speakers are secured with a safety wire to ensure national standards are met.

As it is an outdoor sound system, a waterproof enclosure was also installed to hold all of the equipment that goes with it.

The new system installation means Governor Phillip King Public School can now enjoy safe, external sound all year round.

“We’re always looking to provide innovative products to Australian schools,” said Mark.

“It was great to be able to work with Primo Electrical Services as well as help the school find their ideal sound system.”
